MUSICAL BRAIN SCAN SERIES: RIGGI HECTOR
Dear groovy souls, we're very thrilled to introduce you today a new Musical Brain Scan! We hope you are riding the end of this wave called March in the most psychedelic way. For this new episode we wanted to introduce you Riggi Hector, he is playing keyboards and the guitar in You Said Strange, a psych rock-band from Normandie.
The quartet, made up of the brothers Eliot (lead vocals and guitar) and Martin Carrière (bass and vocals) and their childhood friends Hector Riggi (keyboard and guitar) and Matthieu Vaugelade (drums), is already armed with a first album recorded in Portland with Peter G. Holmstrom (The Dandy Warhols) who they met while opening for them. In 2017 the group even performed at KEXP in Seattle following the crush of its famous host Kevin Cole for their first opus Salvation Prayer (Fuzz Club Records, 2018).
Their latest record "Thousand Shadows Vol. 1" has been recorded in their home studio in Évreux, around an old analog console and microphones accumulated over the various tours. It is in this place, the Morris Laney Studio, that YST settled with their sound engineer Théophile Durand. Written before and during the Covid, this first part is the fruit of their tours, encounters and personal experiences.
This record exudes this scenic dimension, this spontaneity to embody on LPs as in front of their audience. In order to perfect this artisanal and passionate record, they entrusted Daniel James Goodwin, producer of the latest sumptuous records of This Is The Kit, Kevin Morby and Wand, for the mixing and mastering from his studio in Woodstock.
We've asked Riggi for his musical brain scan, here it is:
